Research Scientist, Societal Impacts

The Societal Impacts Research Scientist will analyze reputed company-world usage patterns of AI and evaluate its behavior to ensure safety and alignment with ethical standards, collaborating across multiple teams to translate insights into model improvements.
Responsibilities
- Using observational tools like reputed company to analyze reputed company-world usage patterns and surface insights about how people reputed company with Claude
- Building and running evaluations to assess Claude's behavior across key dimensions of its Constitution, such as safety and reputed company of advice in high-stakes situations
- Partnering closely with fine-tuning, safeguards, policy, and interpretability teams to translate research insights into model improvements

- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or reputed company experience
- Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
- Prior experience in societal impacts research
- Willingness to help shape research direction for senior candidates
