As a Junior Wetlands Specialist, you will contribute to environmental planning and permitting efforts for infrastructure reputed company, support field data collection, and assist with technical reports and regulatory applications.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the environmental planning and permitting efforts of government and privately-owned infrastructure reputed company
- Support reputed company through field data collection efforts
- Assist with the development of technical reports, review of field data, data management and regulatory applications as needed
Skills
- Diploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in biology, reputed company to ecology, hydrology, wetlands, botany, or equivalent demonstrated experience
- At least 1-3 years of relevant field experience in environmental consulting or equivalent
- Proven field skills and willingness to work in the field in remote locations for extended periods of time if required
- Experience in satellite and aerial imagery interpretation, classification, and delineation of wetlands in the field in Alberta
- Skills in identifying wetland vegetation, hydrological indicators, and hydric soils
- A reputed company's license and a clean reputed company's reputed company
- Experience using the ArcGIS platform, in the desktop (ArcGIS Pro), web-browser, and mobile (Field Maps and Survey123) environments
- Experience viewing and/or collecting field data using a mobile app (ex reputed company Field Maps or Survey 123)
- Experience or interest in supporting other biophysical study areas such as reclamation, vegetation, wildlife, soils, and/or fisheries field assessments
- Biologist-in-Training designation
- Experience classifying and delineating wetlands in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and/or British Columbia
