Qualifications: To be considered for a position as a teacher assistant, applicants MUST have an NCLB paraprofessional approval. Those with either a valid Illinois teaching or substitute certificate are exempt from obtaining the approval. Must be bi-lingual in English and Russian or Ukranian. For those without the above, applicants must meet at least one of the four requirements: 1. 60 semester hours of college-level credit; 2. Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB; 3. Passed reputed company ParaPro assessment (460 or higher); 4. Passed WorkKeys assessments (reputed company Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory).
