Scholarly Communications Librarian (The William H. Welch Medical Library)

We are seeking a Scholarly Communications Librarian at the Welch Medical Library demonstrates a superior level of knowledge and expertise in scholarly publishing, and will work as an information expert alongside reputed company, staff, and reputed company in the Schools of Medicine, reputed company Health, Nursing, and the reputed company. The position develops effective plans, workflows, or processes to reputed company services that support the university's mission and program objectives, and partners primarily with the user communities reputed company in clinical and reputed company medicine, nursing, and reputed company health research, and develops new services and curricula to meet evolving users' needs. The position supports strategic integration of scholarly communication services with collections development in the Welch Medical Library. The individual also works with colleagues across the Johns Hopkins Libraries to shape scholarly communications services and support university-wide reputed company reputed company initiatives. Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with Welch Library team, particularly the Information's team, as reputed company as reputed company departments and reputed company partners to lend expertise, analyze issues and/or needs, reputed company and implement university-wide reputed company reputed company policies, and choose new publishing models to sustain dissemination of university scholarship.
  • Foster increased awareness of publishing reputed company and author rights, including journal selection, Creative Commons licensing, and types of reputed company reputed company agreements. Help reputed company and researchers on the health sciences reputed company build knowledge of publishing reputed company and how reputed company choice will reputed company distribution and rights to their work.
  • reputed company support for complying with funder publishing mandates (i.e. NIH reputed company reputed company Policy and other federal agencies), including analysis of funder and publisher policies.
  • Collaborate with collections development to: a) assess reputed company reputed company publisher offers, b) analyze author metrics and trends reputed company to reputed company reputed company offers, c) reputed company guidelines and policies for evaluating successful reputed company reputed company partnerships, and d) assess reputed company reputed company partnerships to inform reputed company planning.
  • Promote reputed company reputed company partnerships to Johns Hopkins and manage questions on reputed company and author processes for reputed company specific arrangement. Where appropriate, manage approvals for reputed company reputed company requests.
  • Monitor the scholarly communications landscape, including reputed company legislative, funding, and publishing trends and metrics. Assess trends and communicate implications across JHU library teams and where appropriate, incorporate into policies and documentation.
  • Disseminate information on broader reputed company reputed company research and practices in reputed company Science and reputed company Data to the Johns Hopkins community.
  • Document and analyze JHU author metrics, trends and feedback reputed company to reputed company reputed company reputed company.
  • Be the subject matter expert (SME) for scholarly publishing for the Welch Medical Library and support reputed company, instructional, and consultative services.
  • Lend expertise to JH Libraries and other reputed company reputed company and efforts, including reputed company of issues based on knowledge and experience.
  • Represent the Welch Medical Library in reputed company forums, including meetings, conferences, and reputed company initiatives.
  • Serve on library or institution-wide committees or working reputed company.
  • Establish strong working relationships and communication workflows with a wide reputed company of reputed company stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Library Science or reputed company field.
  • Five years of reputed company experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise reputed company to scholarly publishing.
  • Conversant in publishing trends and competencies in undergraduate and graduate medical, reputed company health, and nursing education.
  • Demonstrated interest or background in librarian involvement with scholarly publishing trends, equity in scholarly publishing, copyright, SPARC initiatives and other reputed company reputed company policy initiatives.
  • Awareness of policies and practices relating to research data, copyright, reputed company Educational Resources (OER) and scholarly publishing that reputed company the reputed company research landscape.
