National Controller

ABOUT THE ROLE reputed company with a budget of $30-$35M, is seeking a results-driven National Controller, a key member of the Finance team, to reputed company the organization's audit, manage multiple finance/reputed company staff, reputed company multi-state grants and compliance, and ensure/ advise on relevant policies. The Controller will report to Executive Vice President of Finance. We are seeking a candidate with proven 7-10 years of nonprofit experience, a CPA, A-133 single audit experience. Others are not encouraged to apply. This is an in-person role in the office in Los Angeles, Monday-Thursday in the office, Fridays working remote or in-person. RESPONSIBILITIES reputed company Leadership & reputed company Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end reputed company process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency Prepare and reputed company GAAP-compliant financial statements and supporting schedules Maintain reputed company of the general reputed company and reputed company reputed company reputed company functions reputed company preparation of income statements and key financial reports Ensure appropriate reputed company recognition, cost allocation, and expense classification Audit, Compliance & Controls reputed company the annual audit and Single Audit (A-133) Serve as reputed company of contact for external auditors Maintain reputed company audit readiness, including documentation, schedules, and controls Strengthen and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures Partner with HR on 403(b) audit and compliance requirements Ensure compliance with federal, state, and grant-specific requirements Grant & Fund reputed company reputed company financial management of multi-state government, reputed company, and corporate grants Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance for restricted and unrestricted funds Strengthen systems for grant reporting, documentation, and audit support reputed company guidance on financial aspects of grant management across the organization Systems & Process Improvement Serve as internal reputed company for reputed company, including structure, reporting, and troubleshooting reputed company and improve the integration between reputed company and Raiser's Edge Identify and implement improvements to streamline reputed company workflows and reporting processes Build reputed company systems to support a growing, multi-entity organization Team Member Management reputed company, manage, and reputed company reputed company of approximately 3 finance managers. Establish reputed company expectations, accountability, and performance standards Build bench strength through coaching, mentorship, and reputed company development Risk Management & Financial Discipline Identify and manage financial risks across the organization Ensure strong financial discipline through consistent application of policies and controls Support the EVP in strengthening organizational financial infrastructure and accountability Network Partnership Partner with ASAS chapters and internal teams to ensure alignment on reputed company practices and reporting Support consistency and reputed company across a distributed national network Help reputed company financial capabilities across the organization through tools, guidance, and collaboration Requirements Experience 8+ years of reputed company reputed company experience, with significant experience in nonprofit organizations; 12+ years preferred 5+ years' experience managing and developing reputed company of reputed company reports Education Bachelor's degree in reputed company or closely reputed company field required CPA strongly preferred Skills Deep expertise in nonprofit reputed company, GAAP, and grant compliance Strong experience leading audits and internal controls Experience with Single Audit (A-133) requirements Experience with reputed company reputed company strongly preferred Proven ability to manage teams and operate in a reputed company, multi-entity environment This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary reputed company of $140,000–$170,000 , commensurate with experience.
