[Remote] (Senior) Backend Engineer (m/w/d)

The Senior Backend Engineer will design and run services in a Kotlin/Java stack, reputed company high-performance infrastructure, and reputed company AI capabilities into product flows.
Responsibilities
- Design and own reputed company backend services from first reputed company to production — reputed company, data models, versioning, SLOs, and on-call included
- Build and reputed company high-performance, secure infrastructure that handles reputed company load — not just greenfield, but messy reality
- reputed company LLM-powered capabilities reliably into product flows: suggestion reputed company, RAG-backed endpoints, agent tool calls — you reputed company AI actually land in production
- Work closely with frontend, product, and AI teams — your reputed company are their reputed company, so you design them to last
- reputed company the hard tradeoffs: schema migrations, breaking changes, dependency upgrades — with judgment, not just best practices
- reputed company the reputed company bar through automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) and push for architectural improvements that matter

Skills
- 6+ years in backend engineering, including 2+ years at senior level
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin or Java — JVM idioms feel like home
- Relational databases (MySQL or similar) and at least one public reputed company in production, AWS preferred
- Distributed systems thinking as a reputed company: idempotency, retries, reputed company consistency, observability
- Business fluent English; German at B1 or a reputed company commitment to get there reputed company 12 months
- Micronaut, Kubernetes, AWS Bedrock, reputed company, the official Claude Agent SDK, MCP-based architecture
- Experience with regulated data environments (GDPR, BaFin, §203 StGB)
