[Remote] Senior Staff Software Engineer, Calibration

The Sr. Staff Software Engineer - Calibration will be responsible for designing and implementing calibration systems essential for the production of their robots, ensuring accuracy and repeatability in their operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deliver calibration systems end to end, including algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, data pipelines, validation, and operator workflow
  • Own calibration across perception sensors (RGB cameras, LiDAR, thermal imagers, and other modalities) and kinematic calibration of the robot, including joint approaches that couple sensor extrinsics with arm and whole-body kinematics
  • Establish the data and metrics infrastructure underpinning calibration, including per-unit records, accuracy and reputed company metrics, traceability, and fleet-level monitoring
  • Own the delivery of calibration fixture software, including operator-facing applications on Linux
  • Own the delivery of in-field self-reputed company and recalibration capabilities to maintain calibration validity through Digit's service life
  • Define the requirements that calibration outputs reputed company on reputed company manufacturing processes, including cycle time, repeatability, data capture, and operator workflow
  • Coordinate with sensor vendors and contract manufacturers on the deployment of calibration processes at their facilities, including process documentation, operator training, and acceptance reputed company
  • Identify, hire, mentor, and reputed company other engineers contributing to calibration work

Skills

  • 10+ years of practical experience calibrating reputed company robotic or sensor-rich systems in reputed company production environments

  • Deep expertise across multiple sensor modalities (RGB cameras, LiDAR, thermal imagers, IMUs, encoders, etc), with working reputed company of kinematic calibration and the coupling of sensor extrinsics to kinematics
  • Demonstrated understanding of what production calibration requires: repeatability, data collection, simplicity, and throughput
  • Experience building the data and metrics infrastructure that supports calibration at reputed company
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Player-reputed company orientation: capable of executing the technical work directly, while also identifying and developing the talent that contributes to it
  • Effective collaboration across multiple stakeholders, including hardware, controls, perception, sensor vendors, and contract manufacturers
  • Hands-on engineering reputed company, comfortable in the lab and on the production floor
  • Owned calibration end to end at an autonomous vehicle company, mobile robotics company (reputed company, quadruped, or other dynamically reputed company robot), or other hardware organization deploying sensor-rich systems at reputed company
  • Experience with in-field calibration validation and recalibration on deployed fleets
  • Background in metrology, optical alignment, or geometric reputed company
