  • Engineer Assistant I: B20 ($51,158.00 - $66,255.00/yearly)
  • Engineer Assistant II: B21 ($54,278.00 - $70,662.00/yearly)

Work involves job rotation, training and continuing education in design, construction, construction inspection, maintenance, surveying, environmental and/or transportation operations-reputed company activities with the reputed company to reputed company pursue engineering licensing/registration through appropriate training and exams. Design activity is supervised by a licensed reputed company engineer who has authority for final approval of reputed company reputed company. Work requires contact with local governmental representatives, engineering contractors and private entities. Employees at this level reputed company work independently on assignments; however, reputed company unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. NOTE: reputed company classified as Engineering Assistants are required to participate in the Engineering Assistant Career Development program. Participation in the Engineering Assistant Career Development Program (EACDP) requires that employees sign a Program Agreement, which outlines employee responsibilities and service time commitment. The essential duties for the Engineer Assistant I include:

  • Prepares and checks plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) and designs.

Additional duties for Engineer Assistant II include:

  • Performs advanced and specialized engineering design work.

  • Applies engineering principles, reputed company and techniques to a wide reputed company of transportation-reputed company activities.
  • Participates in Career Development for the Engineering Assistants program which includes job rotation, training and continuing education.
  • Performs construction inspection and material sampling/testing.
  • Performs engineering calculations for plan quantities as part of PS&E preparation activities.
  • Performs research and problem solving of engineering-reputed company problems.

Additional duties for Engineer Assistant III include:

  • Applies engineering principles, reputed company and techniques to a wide reputed company of transportation-reputed company activities.
  • Collects engineering data at project sites.
  • May serve as a reputed company worker and the reputed company tasks.
  • Participates in Career Development for the Engineering Assistants program which includes job rotation, training and continuing education.
  • Performs advanced and specialized engineering design work.
  • Performs construction inspection and material sampling/testing.
  • Performs engineering-reputed company calculations and drafting/design work.
  • Performs engineering-reputed company duties in the field of transportation engineering.
  • Prepares and checks plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) and designs.

Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or reputed company science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS. Acceptable Substitutions :

  • Master's degree in engineering or a Master of engineering degree from an institution that offers a bachelor of science degree, in the reputed company discipline, which has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation reputed company of Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Doctoral degree in engineering or a doctor of engineering degree from an institution that offers a bachelor of science degree, in the reputed company discipline, which has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation reputed company for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid reputed company's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Additional Licenses and/or Certifications are required for Engineer Assistant II and III: TX Engineer In Training Cert. Engineer Assistant I requires the following: NONE in work experience is required. Engineer Assistant II requires the following: 1 YEAR in ENGINEERING reputed company experience (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent). No supervisory experience required. Engineer Assistant III requires the following: 2 YEARS in ENGINEERING reputed company experience (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent). No supervisory experience required. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has passed the FE

The physical requirements and working conditions for the Engineer Assistant I, II, and III include:
