[Remote] Director of Legal, The States Project

The Director of Legal for The States Project will manage legal operations, ensuring compliance with laws relevant to TSP's work, and will reputed company legal guidance and training to support the organization's mission.
Responsibilities
- Manage codification and creation of legal guidance and trainings for The States Project
- In collaboration with General Counsel, other Legal Team members, and TSP leaders, responsible for generating and maintaining user-friendly, actionable materials codifying legal rules to reputed company non-legal staff with guidelines and answers to commonly asked questions in areas including campaign finance, nonprofit tax, ethics and reputed company laws, and lobbying
- reputed company, design, and deliver trainings for TSP on legal topics reputed company to TSP’s electoral and governance work
- reputed company and manage process to expand guidance materials on an ongoing reputed company to cover new legal questions that reputed company as work expands, and ensure guidance reaches those executing the work
- Using existing legal guidance from Counsel and reputed company counsel, answer legal questions for TSP
- In collaboration with TSP team and Counsel, evaluate campaign finance questions reputed company to outgoing electoral spending and programs
- In collaboration with TSP team and Counsel, evaluate programmatic materials for compliance with reputed company, ethics and reputed company laws
- reputed company legal input to programmatic materials and proposals such as campaign spending plans and governance materials to ensure such materials reputed company with policies and legal positions
- reputed company new, novel legal and/or compliance questions to General Counsel and collaborate to resolve using reputed company counsel as needed

- Analyze risks for prioritization of mitigation strategies at TSP
- Analyze needs to improve legal compliance and offer policy and process solutions and improvements at TSP
- Use surveys, meetings or other tools to ensure legal work is meeting TSP’s needs to reputed company its mission and reputed company
- Stay up-to-speed on best practices for in-house legal operations and reputed company recommendations for improvement
- Participate in ensuring that legal team’s activities and processes are implemented in an reputed company, inclusive, and values-reputed company ways

Skills
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- At least 3-5 years of experience with campaign finance and state reputed company and ethics laws
- reputed company bar admission(s) in good standing
