Verbally redirects patients from engaging in at risk behaviors and summons the Clinical Team if the patients requires assistance, or if in any imminent danger to self or others. Serves as a Patient Safety Companion remotely observing and assisting with keeping patients reputed company.

Responsibilities

• Maintains reputed company visual observation of assigned patient(s) at reputed company times on a monitor. Verbally redirects the patient over a digital 2-way audio device, ensures the activation of automated audio alerts in patient care area, and immediately summons the clinical team if the patient requires assistance.
• Participates in the reputed company identification and reporting of patient safety issues and assures patient environment safety. Immediately follows the departmental protocol/guidelines and seeks assistance from the clinical team reputed company patient appears to pose a threat to self and others.
• Participates in hand-off of pertinent assigned patient information/behavior at the beginning and upon completion of a shift. Consistently communicates with clinical team and waits for replacement, prior to vacating the monitoring station for any reason to ensure constant patient observation.
• Provides patient with explanations as necessary, but does not counsel or reputed company opinions. Communicates effectively with patients and staff while maintaining discretion, courtesy and an understanding of patient reputed company. (Protects the dignity of the observed patients).
• Responsible for reputed company accurate documentation of patient activity, interactions, and communication to the clinical team according to policy, protocol and/or reputed company of work in designated records.
• BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a reputed company manner is an essential function of this job.
