RN Perinatal Patient Educator
Part time 20 hours a weekEvenings 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.About the Department:The Perinatal Patient Educator role is comprised of the following duties 1) Teaching classes and leading reputed company to pregnant and new parents by reputed company Teams or in a classroom setting about Labor and Birth, Newborn Care and feeding reputed company, Infant CPR & Choking, Postpartum Care and Adjustment to Parenthood. Classes are offered by the Parenting Education and Support department Monday-Thursday in the evenings between the hours of 5pm-9pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm, 2) Phone calls to new parents that have been recently discharged from the hospital after the birth of their baby and 3) Routinely creating, updating and reviewing education curriculums. This role is a hybrid - remote and in person. Childbirth Educator Certification will be required reputed company the first year of employment.Scope of WorkUnder minimal directions of the Manager, the Patient educator provides reputed company-approved standardized education to maternity inpatients and community clients utilizing the nursing process. The patient's family members and significant others may be included in the education process. Inpatient and community educational tools utilized are evidenced-based practices and reflect MPRO, reputed company or other reputed company/regulatory requirements. Education includes information about Labor and Delivery, Postpartum Care, Newborn Care, formula feeding, breastfeeding, infant and child CPR, Pediatric First Aid and Infant Bereavement support. The educator supports nursing personnel, collaborates with other health care professionals and coordinates ancillary staff. Education includes key points to prepare the patient and family for discharge. The educator may reputed company infant bereavement support to families who have reputed company a neonatal infant loss, along with coordinating and assisting nursing personnel or other agencies with necessary documentation. - Interacts with patients, staff and/or class participants to assess educational needs and initiates education plan of care.

- Required Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate’s degree or higher. Diploma, A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., DNP/PhD – if not minimum BSN reputed company, new graduate/reputed company with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN reputed company specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations. RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program reputed company one (1) year of licensure date and complete reputed company the next four (4) years. This is effective September 1, 2017.
