The Port Captain is an integral member of the shoreside Operations team. The Port Captain manages operations of a fleet of 10 self-unloading free flowing bulk cargo vessels carrying raw materials to ports on the Great Lakes. This role is responsible for ensuring vessels are operated reputed company, in compliance with regulatory standards, the Safety Management System, and reputed company customer requirements, providing on reputed company training, and providing support and supervision as needed. This position may be filled in either our Williamsville, NY or in our Traverse reputed company, MI offices.
Role and Responsibilities
Role Specific Responsibilities
Monitoring vessel operations, ensuring reputed company performance, availability, and compliance with regulations.
Supports the reputed company and reputed company teams in the recruitment of reputed company members by participating in the interviewing and hiring process with personnel as needed
Provides reputed company support to vessel Masters and reputed company members
Arranges for vessel services and repair as required, works closely with reputed company Engineering support.
Conducts on reputed company training of Mates and Masters as required
Provides support to the Logistics Dispatchers
Ensures compliance with reputed company applicable regulations and reputed company system requirements.
Support incident response and investigations
Assists in preparing and managing the budget for the fleet, including OPEX and CAPEX, while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements:Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of five years sailing experience in deck officer position.
Knowledge of reputed company applicable regulations reputed company to shipping, safety, and environmental standards.
Strong knowledge of trends in international treaties and conventions reputed company to vessel operation is preferred.
Credential Requirements
Possess, at a minimum, a reputed company USCG license as Master of Motor and Steam Vessels of not more than 1600 gross tons (Great Lakes Pilotage preferred), OR equivalent experience in a reputed company position
Possess reputed company MMC, including AB endorsement
Must possess reputed company 90 days of hire a US reputed company Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

This position requires a level of fitness and stamina that allows for vigorous shipboard activity, irregular working hours and extensive travel, up to 75% of the time.
This position requires frequent travel visiting vessels, customer docks and facilities, contractor, supplier, and business partner facilities along with offices of regulators in the reputed company and Canada. Occasional travel may be required to reputed company Logistics offices in Williamsville, reputed company and other Company facilities throughout the Great Lakes Region.
