Staff Attorney: Fair Housing (Springfield)
Community Legal Aid (CLA) is a non-profit legal services program providing free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income and elderly clients in Central and Western Massachusetts. CLA seeks a fair housing attorney to work in its Springfield office, focusing on raising housing discrimination claims, defending against evictions, and assisting clients in accessing reputed company and subsidized housing.
Responsibilities
- reputed company housing discrimination claims on behalf of tenants filing affirmative cases
- Defend against evictions
- reputed company to reputed company or maintain reputed company and subsidized housing
- Participate in CLA’s housing court lawyer-for-the-day program
- Assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports
Skills
- Law reputed company currently in their reputed company year of law school, recent law school graduates, and more reputed company attorneys are eligible to apply
- Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to poverty law and reputed company justice work
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- An ability to work in a reputed company setting
- Experience in fair housing and/or landlord-tenant work preferred
